Auto finance, hire purchase and leasing

Win the deal at the dealership. Keep control until the final payment.

Dealers tend to send their next deal to the lender that answers and pays first. After approval, vehicle checks, insurance, registration, liens and payouts often still run on email, websites and paper. The Zoral Finance Operating System (fOS) handles the deal from the dealer’s quote to the final payment, for captives, banks and non-bank finance companies, alongside your existing systems.

From quote to final payment

One record for the deal, from the dealer’s desk to the last instalment.

Many auto lenders decide in one system and finish the deal in several others: email with dealers, insurer and registry websites, spreadsheets for payouts, paper for the title. Hand-offs delay funding and can leave gaps in your claim on the vehicle. Zoral fOS carries the deal through front, middle and back office on one platform, with one record. Since 2004, Zoral has delivered over 100 projects across consumer, asset-backed, mortgage, SME and Islamic finance, for clients regulated by the FCA in the UK, the CFPB in the US and the central banks of Malaysia and Thailand. References are available in confidence.

Dealers served, with or without their own system

Dealers quote and submit through a portal, from their dealer management system by API, or by email if they have neither. Each route ends in the same application record. Dealers see where each deal stands and are asked to confirm delivery dates. Customers can also apply online, in a branch or with your field sales staff, and complete the purchase at the dealer without starting again.

More deals funded. Fewer surprises after funding.

  • For the CEO and Head of Auto Finance: dealers who come back

Dealer loyalty is earned one deal at a time, with a quick answer, a clear status and the money on time. That holds whether you support a manufacturer’s sales or compete for a dealer’s business. Start with one product or dealer group, then add more.

  • For the CRO and COO: control of the vehicle and the operation

Each financed vehicle is checked, insured and registered with your interest recorded. Open items are chased until they are closed. Your teams set work queues, service targets and approval limits, and each exception has a named owner.

  • For Compliance and Technology: evidence and fit

Each decision is kept with its data, rules and reasons. Each dealer payment is kept with its basis, as set up for that dealer. Zoral fOS runs alongside your hire-purchase or leasing system, in your chosen region. Your data remains yours.

Questions auto lenders ask us

Business and risk

Our dealers range from large groups with their own systems to small used-car lots with none. Can we serve both?

Yes. Dealers with a dealer management system can submit deals and receive decisions through it by API, events or file. Others use a dealer portal, or email applications for your team to complete. Each application lands in the same record. You decide what each dealer can see and do, and how each is paid.

Can we launch a manufacturer campaign or a subsidised rate without a change request?

In most cases, yes. Campaign rates, subsidies, eligible models, dates and dealers are held as settings your product team can edit. A second person approves each change before it goes live. Each campaign is tracked from launch to the end of its contracts, so you can see what it cost and what it brought in. Your credit policy still applies to campaign deals.

Faster approvals are welcome. How do we stop them turning into losses?

The speed comes from running more checks while the customer waits, not fewer. They cover identity, affordability, fraud, the vehicle’s history and loan-to-value. Deals outside policy go to a person. After funding, early warning signals by dealer, campaign and product show where results are drifting from plan. You then tighten policy, with each change approved and recorded.

How do you protect our security in the vehicle?

Before payout, the vehicle is checked for existing liens and dealer floor-plan finance, and insurance is confirmed with your interest noted. After payout, registration and ownership transfer are followed until your interest is recorded. Where your market still uses a paper title, the title is then held, tracked while in your custody and released when the contract is settled. Open items have an owner and a deadline. Your policy decides which items must close before funds are released.

What happens after payout, when customers want to settle early or fall into difficulty?

Customers can ask for balances and settlement figures through your channels. Restructuring follows packages your credit team sets up, with the affected accounts flagged. Early warning signs can be configured to pass to collections with the full history. Help for customers in financial difficulty follows rules you approve. Every arrangement is recorded.

Can we use what we know to keep customers for their next vehicle?

Yes, within the consent your customers have given. Models estimate who is likely to settle early, renew or move to another lender, and which offers they are likely to accept, such as insurance or a new agreement near the end of term. Your teams choose the offers, and each new agreement passes the same affordability check as the first.

What do AI agents do in auto finance, and who answers for a credit decision?

AI agents are configured to your policies and workflows. They help dealer-support staff complete and check applications, and help operations chase missing documents and registry or insurer responses. They also draft the credit paper for referred deals and answer customers’ questions after payout. They act only through the permissions, workflows and approvals you set, and what they do is recorded. Agents do not make credit decisions. Those follow policy and models you approve, and accountability stays with you. You choose the language models behind them, which connect to Zoral fOS through a standard interface (MCP). Client data stays under your governance, within the environments and agreements you control.

Technology and delivery

Do we have to replace our hire-purchase or leasing system?

No. Zoral fOS can run origination, the vehicle and payout steps and servicing requests alongside your existing contract system. It can book approved deals into that system without re-keying. A new auto finance business can also hold its contracts on Zoral fOS. So can a multifinance company running car and motorcycle finance alongside cash loans secured on a vehicle the customer already owns. Each product has its own terms, configured in Zoral Product Factory. You decide how much moves, and when.

Can we offer Islamic vehicle financing?

Yes. Islamic vehicle financing runs on the structures your Shariah board approves. In Malaysia this is usually AITAB (Al-Ijarah Thumma Al-Bai): the bank leases the vehicle to the customer, then sells it to them at the end of the term. It runs side by side with conventional hire purchase, with its own rules, documents and reporting. Your Shariah board remains the authority; Zoral provides the configurable structures and the evidence trail for its review.

Registries, insurers and some dealers have no interface. How do you connect?

Through documented interfaces where they exist: APIs, events, batch and file transfer. Where a registry, insurer or dealer system offers only a web screen, robotic automation can complete the steps that don’t need an in-person visit. If the screen changes, it flags the change instead of failing silently. Anything else becomes a tracked task for your team or an outsourced agent.

Can our own teams change workflows and approval rules?

Yes. Business administrators can skip or add workflow steps for a product. They can also change approval-authority conditions, value lists, blocking rules and service targets through configuration rather than code. Each change is saved as a new version and tested. It goes live only once a second person approves it, and it can be rolled back. Your technology team keeps control of environments and releases.

Where does it run, and will it meet our security standards?

On AWS or Azure in your chosen region, including in your own cloud account, or in your own data centre. Zoral Document Fabric, which reads your documents, runs in your own AWS or Azure account, or your private cloud, in your region and under your control. The platform is designed for high availability. It uses your identity management for sign-on, sends logs to your security monitoring and supports encryption keys you manage. Our controls are independently audited under SOC 2, with details on the Zoral Trust Portal. Architecture documentation is available under a confidentiality agreement.

Who runs it day to day, and what if we change provider?

You choose. Zoral can run and support the platform for you, your own technology team can run it, or we share the work and hand over as your team grows. Your people run the lending operations, from the dealer desk to collections. Your data, product definitions and audit history remain yours and can be exported in standard formats.

How do we start, and who stands behind the platform?

Most lenders start with one product, one dealer group or one region, then add more in regular releases. We give a realistic plan after scoping, not before. Zoral is an independent specialist, founded in 2004, with 350+ years of combined experience. The people who built the platform lead delivery.

Who implements it?

Atelier, Zoral’s consulting and implementation team, works with your teams and, where you choose, with your advisers and systems integrators. The same team can tune dealer and customer decisions, and collections, against your plan.

Plan for the whole book. Prove it with one dealer group.

Start with the part of the deal that costs you most, whether that’s slow answers to dealers, payouts held up by paperwork, or titles and insurance still being chased after funding. A senior Zoral team will map it with your sales, credit, operations and technology leads, from quote to final payment, and agree where to begin.
