Loan and financing origination

Say yes sooner. Explain every no.

Applicants walk away while files wait for documents, checks and sign-off. Each new product or policy change adds to a growing backlog of IT projects. The Zoral Finance Operating System (fOS) runs origination for your lending products, from first enquiry to booking in the core you already run. Decisions, documents, approvals, partner portals and AI agents are built in.

Front, middle and back office

From first enquiry to money in the customer’s account.

Most banks originate loans on separate systems for decisions, documents, portals and workflow, often one set per product. Integrations, emails and spreadsheets join them. Every hand-off adds delay, re-keying and a gap in the audit trail. Zoral fOS runs the whole journey on one platform, with one record of each application that every team, channel and system can rely on.

Every channel, one application

Customers apply online or in your app. Branch and mobile sales staff, call centres, brokers, dealers, aggregators and your CRM submit through portals or APIs. Pre-screening and approval in principle come back in the same conversation. Duplicate and recently declined applications are flagged. An application started in one channel can be finished in another. Staff, partners and customers see the same status. Zoral Portal Studio, which builds these screens, can show them in English, Malay, Thai and other languages.

Built around your bank

It fits your architecture and changes at your pace.

Zoral fOS is designed to fit around the systems you run, to change safely as your products do, and to put AI to work inside your controls.

  • Fits your architecture

    Runs on AWS or Azure in your chosen region, or in your own data centre, and is designed for high availability and disaster recovery. Zoral Document Fabric, our intelligent document processing (IDP) service integrated with Zoral fOS, runs in your own AWS or Azure account, or your private cloud, in your region and under your control. Connects through your middleware by API, messaging, events or file and uses your identity and security monitoring. Your core, CRM and channels stay in place. Controls are independently audited under SOC 2, with details on the Zoral Trust Portal.

  • Changed by your teams, product by product

    Credit, product and operations teams change rules, screens, workflows and letters themselves. Each product has its own configuration, designed so that changing one does not change the others. Every change is versioned, simulated on past applications, approved by a second person, moved from test to live and can be rolled back.

  • AI agents that work inside your controls

    AI agents, configured to your policies and workflows, work inside the screens your teams already use. They help sales staff complete applications, help operations read documents and chase missing items, draft credit papers for underwriters to review, and answer status questions. Each agent has its own instructions, guardrails, budget and approval steps. They act only through the permissions, workflows and approvals you set, and their actions are recorded. Agents do not make credit decisions. Those follow policy and models your bank approves, and accountability stays with your bank.

Products

Retail and business lending on one platform.

Secured and unsecured, retail and business, conventional and Islamic products share customer data, checks and controls. Each product keeps its own policy, workflow and documents. Each product starts from a working configuration. The next one reuses what the last one built.

  • Credit cards

    New, supplementary and corporate cards, upgrades and limit changes, from an application or a request in your mobile banking app. Checks include soft eligibility and affordability. Test limit and pricing strategies against each other. Approved cards are set up in your card system.

  • Personal financing and overdrafts

    Serve salaried, self-employed and payroll-deduction applicants. Offer financing that can be paid out in stages, debt consolidation and overdraft renewals. Decisions use verified income and affordability, with risk-based pricing. Top-ups and limit increases for existing customers are decided on what you already know about them.

  • Point-of-sale finance and BNPL

    Decide inside the merchant checkout, or in bulk for pre-approved customers. Checks cover identity, fraud and affordability within your policy. Repayment plans are shown clearly before the customer agrees.

  • Auto finance and hire purchase

    Dealers quote and apply through a portal, an API or their own systems. Dealers without a system can still be served. For cars and motorcycles, vehicle checks, insurance, registration, existing liens and the title document are tracked. Dealers are paid once conditions are met.

  • Home and property financing

    Approval in principle uses verified income and assets. Valuation, legal and insurance steps follow, with staged payments for properties under construction configured to your policy. Refinancing is covered. Lenders that already run a mortgage origination system can keep it.

  • SME and commercial

    Applications through relationship managers, brokers or online, with company registry checks, bank statement and open-banking analysis, financial spreading, guarantor and collateral checks, group exposure, and a credit paper prepared for the approver.

We have built and launched multi-product loan origination (LOS), credit decisioning and robo-underwriting systems for lenders across consumer loans, cards, point-of-sale finance, mortgage, SME and Islamic financing. References are available in confidence.

Questions lenders ask us

Business and risk

We already have an origination system and a decision engine. Do we have to replace them?

No. Zoral can work alongside what you run today, including an existing mortgage origination system. It reads the file, runs checks and decisions, and writes the results back. Zoral’s decisions can also serve your other origination systems, so credit policy is kept in one place. Lenders often start where delays are worst and move more onto Zoral when it makes sense.

Can one platform really cover cards, personal, auto, home and SME financing, conventional and Islamic?

Yes. Products share customer data, checks, controls and audit history. Each product keeps its own rules, workflows, documents and reports. Conventional and Islamic versions run side by side, with Islamic terms on screens and documents. Your Shariah board remains the authority; Zoral provides the configurable structures and the evidence trail for its review.

Who changes credit policy, and what stops a bad change reaching customers?

Your credit and product teams make the change, and the platform keeps it controlled. Each change becomes a new version, simulated on past applications to show its effect on approvals and expected losses. A second person approves it, and it is released to all applications or a share of them. If results disappoint, the previous version can be restored, with the history kept.

How do we explain a decline months later, to a customer or a regulator?

Each decision is stored with the data used, the policy and model versions applied and the reasons for the outcome, so it can be reproduced as it was made. Your teams can use those reasons in customer notices and regulatory reviews. A customer who asks for a person to review an automated decision can be routed to one, with the full record. The obligations remain yours. Zoral keeps the evidence.

Faster decisions are welcome, but how does this help with defaults?

Speed only helps if customers can repay. Your policy sets pricing, limits and terms by risk. Zoral applies it, checks affordability as part of the decision, and watches for early warning signs once loans are funded. You compare actual losses with plan, see where and why they differ, and tune policy with approval.

Can brokers, dealers and other partners work on the same platform?

Yes. Each works through a portal or an API for their role, sees only their own cases, and has tasks and response times tracked. Solicitors, valuers and insurers can be given the same controlled access, configured to their role. You decide what each partner can see and do.

What do AI agents do in origination, and who answers for a credit decision?

Agents, configured to your policies and workflows, help at each step: completing and checking applications, reading documents, drafting the credit paper, chasing missing items and answering status questions. They work only through the permissions, workflows and approvals you set, and what they do is recorded. You choose the language models behind them, from enterprise model services to open-weight models hosted in your own environment. Your knowledge bases, conversation records and client data stay under your governance, within the environments and agreements you control. Agents do not make credit decisions. Credit decisions follow rules and models your bank approves. Exceptions go to named people, and accountability for each decision stays with your bank.

Which AI features can we use in origination?

Alongside the agents, your teams can use:

a bank-statement analyser that checks statements are genuine and flags round-tripping, returned cheques and other unusual flows;

limit recommendations within your policy when affordability falls short, for the approver to accept or change;

machine-learning models compared with your current scorecards, on past and live applications, before you decide to use them;

campaign and product recommendations for existing customers, within your rules;

help for your testers to prepare and check test cases when products or rules change.

Each feature works within your policy and approvals, and every result is recorded.

Technology and delivery

How does Zoral connect to our core banking, card, payment and other systems, and what if one is unavailable?

Through documented interfaces, using what your bank already standardises on: APIs, messaging, events and file transfer, with robotic automation where a system has no interface. Typical connections include core banking, cards, hire purchase, bureaus, fraud and AML screening, document management, identity management, CRM, contact centre and your data lake. In Malaysia, they include the CCRIS central credit registry, CTOS, DuitNow and Jumio for identity checks. If a bureau, core or payment system is unavailable, applications are designed to wait at the step they reached and continue when it returns. Controls are designed to prevent duplicate bookings or payments. Operations teams see the cases affected. We have worked alongside modern cloud cores as well as traditional ones, integrating with them and maintaining their product configuration. Architecture documentation is available under a confidentiality agreement.

Can our own AI agents work with Zoral, and how do we keep them under control?

Yes. Your agents connect to Zoral fOS through a standard interface (MCP) and can read data, run decisions or start workflows only within the permissions you grant. Guardrails, budgets and human approval steps are set per agent, and every action is traced for review. Business analysts, product and risk managers can also configure Zoral with an AI assistant. Their changes still go through versioning and second-person approval.

Configuration has limits. What happens when a product needs something unusual?

Most product and decision logic is configured in a readable form your analysts can review. Where more is needed, business logic is written in readable JavaScript. Your engineers can also work through documented interfaces. Every change, configured or written, goes through the same versioning and approval.

How do we move from our current system without disrupting branches and partners?

Most banks move product by product or channel by channel, not all at once. Applications already in progress can usually be completed in the current system, and historical records can be migrated where you need them. We give you a realistic plan, including timing, once we have scoped the work together.

Who runs the platform, and what if we change provider later?

You choose who runs it. Zoral can run and support the platform for you, your own technology team can run it, or we share the work and hand over as your team grows. Your people run the banking operations. Your data, product definitions and audit history remain yours and can be exported in standard formats.

Who stands behind the platform, and can we speak to its clients?

Zoral is an independent specialist, founded in 2004, with over 100 projects and 350+ years of combined experience. The platform is our own, and the people who built it lead delivery. We have worked with clients regulated by the FCA in the UK, the CFPB in the US and the central banks of Malaysia and Thailand. We have a long-standing relationship with KPMG and offer references in confidence.

Who implements it?

Atelier, Zoral’s consulting and implementation team, works with your teams and, where you choose, with your advisers and systems integrators. The same team can turn your credit policy into decision strategies and models, and take each product live in stages.

Start where applicants drop off. Expand from there.

Bring us the product where approvals take too long or cost too much, or the origination programme you are planning. A senior Zoral team will walk through it with your business, credit, operations and technology leads, from first enquiry to disbursement. We show how it fits your systems and agree where to start and how the rest follows.
