Modernise around your core
Keep your core. Launch new products without waiting for it.
Replacing a core banking system is long, costly and hard to stop. New products wait for the next core release. The Zoral Finance Operating System (fOS) runs alongside your core instead. New digital products are built on Zoral Product Factory, post to your general ledger and go live in regular releases. Over time, your core carries fewer products.
Modern products and controls, without replacing your core.
Products defined, not programmed
Zoral Product Factory describes each product in a banking-specific product language: rates or profit, fees, schedules, grace periods, repayment allocation, restructuring, early-settlement rebates and lifecycle events. Product, finance and risk teams can read it. Changes are configured and approved, not coded.

Modernise in steps. Go only as far as the business case supports.
Most banks keep their core and build alongside it. Each step has its own business case and delivers a working result. You decide whether to take the next step.
- 01
Build new products alongside your core now
Launch new savings, deposit or financing products, or new features for existing customers, on Zoral Product Factory. Their accounts sit on a sub-ledger that posts to your general ledger. Your core keeps running today’s book unchanged. Customers and staff see one journey. New products go live in regular releases rather than waiting for core releases.
- 02
Move existing products across when it makes sense
Move product by product, or portfolio by portfolio, as contracts, risk appetite and team capacity allow. Accounts moving across are run in parallel and reconciled with your core before the switch. Dual running is therefore limited to the product that is moving. Over time, your core carries fewer products, and the bank depends less on it for change.
- 03
Run new digital products end to end
For a new digital bank, a digital brand, or an Islamic subsidiary or window, Zoral Product Factory can be the system of record for its accounts. Customer journeys, origination, decisions, servicing and collections run on the same platform. We have built and launched the complete platform for a Shariah-compliant digital bank, as well as multi-product loan origination (LOS), credit decisioning and robo-underwriting systems. References are available in confidence.

Every product on the same engine
Savings and deposits, personal and SME financing, credit lines and secured portfolios sit alongside the structures your Shariah board approves, such as Wakala, Mudaraba, Murabaha, Tawarruq, Diminishing Musharaka, Ijara or Istisna, and profit-sharing accounts. Products, rules and reporting are kept separate. The board remains the authority.
Questions banks ask about modernising around the core
Do we have to replace our core banking system?
No. Most banks start by building new products on Zoral alongside their existing core. Zoral posts to their general ledger. The core keeps running what it does well. Existing products move only when you decide the business case supports it.
Where does the record of each account sit, and can that include deposits?
For the products it runs, Zoral Product Factory keeps the account-level record on a sub-ledger that posts to your general ledger. This holds balances, accruals, transactions and product versions. It can cover savings and deposit accounts as well as financing. Your core banking system keeps the products it already runs. You decide which products sit where, taking your deposit-protection and reporting obligations into account.
How is this different from a core replacement programme?
A replacement usually means migrating first and seeing the benefit later. With Zoral, you build alongside your core. You define products in a language your business can read. Origination, decisions, documents, servicing and collections run on the same platform. Any later move is decided product by product.
How does Zoral connect to our core and general ledger?
Zoral connects through documented interfaces, configured for each product. It posts accounting entries to your general ledger at the level of detail finance sets. It exchanges customer, account and payment data with your core and payment systems as each product needs. Reconciliation with your general ledger is set up as part of connecting each product. Your finance team approves the account mapping and posting rules. We have worked alongside modern cloud cores as well as traditional ones, integrating with them and maintaining their product configuration.
What happens when an existing product moves across?
Each product or portfolio moves separately, one at a time. Dual running is therefore limited to what is moving. Before the switch, the accounts moving across are run in Zoral and reconciled with the balances and schedules in your core. Afterwards, general-ledger reconciliation shows finance where every balance stands. You choose when each product moves, and whether it moves at all.
What will our regulator expect, and how does Zoral help?
Supervisors typically expect important services to stay resilient through any change, with testing, fallback and exit plans at each step. Working in smaller steps makes each one easier to evidence. Zoral provides the records, test results and architecture documentation that support your operational resilience and third-party risk obligations. We have worked with clients regulated by the FCA in the UK, the CFPB in the US and the central banks of Malaysia and Thailand. Your obligations remain yours.
Can our product team change products without adding to the IT projects backlog?
Product, finance and risk analysts change products in the product language, test them by simulation and send them for approval. Your technology team still controls environments and releases, but it no longer has to write code for a new rate, fee or term. Every change becomes a new, approved version.
How do we know a new product will behave as designed?
Before launch, Zoral runs accounts through simulated activity over the product’s full life, including rate changes, arrears, early settlement and fee events. It shows the balances, accruals and postings that result. Finance, risk and, for Islamic products, your Shariah board review those results before approval, not just the product description.
Can we run Islamic and conventional products together?
Yes. An Islamic subsidiary or window can sit on the same engine as your conventional products, with its own products, rules and reporting. Zoral does not certify products. Your Shariah board remains the authority; Zoral provides the configurable structures and the evidence trail for its review.
Will it meet our availability and volume requirements?
Zoral is designed for high availability. We don’t publish performance figures out of context. Architecture documentation, including how the platform scales, is available under a confidentiality agreement. Our architects will take yours through it in detail.
Where do we start, and how long does it take?
Most banks start with one new product alongside the core and add others in regular releases. The pace depends on which products go first, how many systems Zoral connects to and how quickly your teams can take decisions. We put a realistic plan in front of you once the scope is clear.
Where does Zoral run, and who runs it day to day?
Zoral runs in your chosen cloud region on AWS or Azure, or in your own data centre, to suit local data residency rules. Zoral Document Fabric, our intelligent document processing (IDP) service integrated with Zoral fOS, runs in your own AWS or Azure account, or your private cloud, in your region and under your control. Zoral can run and support the platform for you, your own technology team can run it, or we share the work and hand over as your team grows. Your people run the banking operations.
Are we locked in?
Your data, product definitions and audit history remain yours and can be exported in standard formats. You remain free to change direction later. Zoral is an independent specialist, founded in 2004, not tied to another bank or to any core banking vendor. We work alongside your chosen advisers and systems integrators, and have a long-standing relationship with KPMG.
Who implements it?
Atelier, Zoral’s consulting and implementation team, works with your teams and, where you choose, with your advisers and systems integrators. The same team can assess which products to build around your core first, and deliver them alongside it.
Plan the whole journey. Commit one product at a time.
Bring us your plans for your core, wherever they stand. A senior Zoral specialist will help you decide which new products to build alongside it first, which existing products could move later, and whether a new digital brand could run end to end on Zoral. We will also show you what finance, risk and your regulator would see at each step.
