Corporate and commercial lending

Spend your analysts’ time on judgement, not on spreading.

Credit requests and annual reviews wait while analysts re-key annual reports and write the credit paper from scratch. In the Zoral Finance Operating System (fOS), AI agents and Zoral Document Fabric, our integrated intelligent document processing (IDP) service, spread the financials into your template and draft the analysis. They generate the memorandum with sources linked and carry the file into each review. Analysts check. Committees decide.

Keep your credit process. Take out the re-keying.

Zoral fOS works alongside the loan system, rating tools and core you already run. It does the spreading, drafts the analysis and memorandum, and prepares each review and covenant test. Your credit policy, rating models and approval authorities do not change.

From spread to credit memorandum to the next review, with the evidence attached.

AI agents, configured to your policies and workflows, work with Zoral Document Fabric to read, spread and prepare first drafts, inside the screens your analysts already use. They are guardrailed and built to work within your compliance and model-risk rules. They act only within your policies, approved sources and permissions, and each step is recorded and reviewable. Agents do not make credit decisions. Accountability stays with your bank.

Accounts read down to the notes

Zoral Document Fabric reads audited annual reports, management accounts, tax returns and bank statements, including the footnotes where leases, contingent liabilities and related-party balances are often disclosed. Figures are reconciled across periods and documents. Values the system is unsure of go to an analyst with the source page alongside.

Better credit papers and reviews from the same team, with authority where it belongs.

  • For the Head of Corporate Banking: answers clients can plan around

Relationship managers give clients a clear answer sooner, because the spread and first draft are ready when the analyst starts. Your credit team can take on more new requests and periodic reviews without lowering the bar.

  • For the CRO and Head of Credit: analysis you can test

Each counterparty is spread, analysed and written up the same way, against your policy, rating models and authorities. Committee members can check a figure against its source. Warning signs can reach the credit team between reviews, not only at review time.

  • For Compliance and Technology: a record, not a reconstruction

Each draft, edit, approval and agent action is recorded with who did it and why. Zoral fOS runs alongside your loan system and core, in your chosen region. Your data and templates remain yours.

Founded in 2004, Zoral has delivered over 100 projects. We have worked with clients regulated by the FCA in the UK, the CFPB in the US and the central banks of Malaysia and Thailand. References are available in confidence.

Questions corporate lenders ask us

Credit analysis and review

Can a generated credit memorandum go to our credit committee, and how do analysts check it?

Only after your analyst has reviewed, edited and signed it. Each figure in the spread and the memorandum links back to the document and page it came from. Adjustments are listed with who accepted them. Discrepancies go to the analyst rather than being smoothed over. Both the draft and the signed version are kept. The people and committees named in your authority framework approve it.

Will it use our spreading template, ratios and rating models?

Yes. Zoral fOS spreads into your template and chart of accounts and calculates the ratios your policy defines. Your rating models can run in the Zoral Decision Engine, or stay where they run today and be called from the workflow. Your risk team approves each change, and model owners keep the final say.

Can it handle group structures and connected exposure?

Agents can work from consolidated and entity-level accounts. They set out exposure across a group and connected parties, such as shared directors or guarantors, for the credit paper and the approval route. Your definitions of a group and connected parties apply. Your credit team confirms the structure.

Which documents can Zoral Document Fabric read, and in which languages?

It reads annual reports and their footnotes, management accounts, tax returns, bank statements, compliance certificates, valuations and facility documents, in English, Malay and Thai today. Models are trained for each country, document type and language you need. Zoral Document Fabric runs in your own AWS or Azure account, or your private cloud, in your region and under your control. It passes clean, structured data and any warnings to Zoral fOS through a secure interface. Where it is unsure of a value, a person decides before it is used.

What outside information do agents use, and what stops them going further?

Agents use only approved sources, such as company registries, credit reference data, sector data and published news you subscribe to. Agents are guardrailed. They work within your policies, approved sources and permissions, and each step is recorded and reviewable in the file. Licensed data stays within its licence terms. Your analysts decide what is relevant.

How does Zoral support our loan review function?

Configured to your facilities and review cycle, Zoral fOS tracks which reviews are due. When new accounts or compliance certificates arrive, they are re-spread and covenants are tested against each facility’s definitions. Agents draft the review paper with the changes since the last one. Breaches and early warning signs go to the relationship manager and credit team. Your approvers decide on waivers, amendments, watch-list cases and grades.

Do you support Islamic financing for corporate clients?

Islamic facilities can be set up on structures your Shariah board has approved and run beside conventional ones, through the same spread, analysis and review cycle. Your Shariah board remains the authority; Zoral provides the configurable structures and the evidence trail for its review.

Can we build trade finance or other corporate products on Zoral fOS?

Yes. Zoral fOS is designed so your team and ours can configure products such as trade finance. You need not adapt a fixed package. Product rules, documents, limits and approval workflows are set up on the same platform as your credit analysis, so a new product shares the counterparty’s spread, exposure and review history. We start from your process and show you what the build would involve.

Technology and delivery

Do we have to replace our loan system, and where do we start?

No. Zoral fOS can sit beside your current loan system. It takes the file, prepares the spread, analysis and draft paper, and returns the results to it. We suggest starting with one segment, such as annual reviews of a mid-market book or new requests above a certain size, and adding more in regular releases. We give a realistic plan after scoping, not before.

How are the language models and AI agents governed, and can our own agents connect?

Language models read documents and draft text. Grades and credit decisions come from the rating models, rules and people your bank has approved. You choose the language models, from enterprise model services to open-weight models hosted in your own environment. Client data, knowledge bases and conversation records stay under your governance, within the environments and agreements you control. Agents are built to work within your compliance and model-risk rules. Each has its own instructions, guardrails, budget and approval steps. Each prompt, tool call and answer is recorded for your model risk team. Your own AI agents can use Zoral fOS through a standard interface (MCP), under the same controls.

Where does Zoral run, and who runs it?

It runs on AWS or Azure in your chosen region, or in your own data centre. It is designed for high availability and connects to your loan system, core and rating tools through documented interfaces. Zoral Document Fabric, which reads your documents, runs in your own AWS or Azure account, or your private cloud, in your region and under your control. Our controls are independently audited under SOC 2, with details on the Zoral Trust Portal. Zoral can run and support the platform for you, your own technology team can run it, or we share the work and hand over as your team grows. Your people run the credit operation.

What do we keep if we change provider, and who is Zoral?

Your data, templates, product definitions and audit history remain yours and can be exported in standard formats. Zoral is an independent specialist founded in 2004, with over 100 projects and 350+ years of combined experience. We have a long-standing relationship with KPMG. References are available in confidence.

Who implements it?

Atelier, Zoral’s consulting and implementation team, works with your teams and, where you choose, with your advisers and systems integrators. The same team includes credit specialists. Its data specialists bring financial statements and other sources into one governed record.

Credit risk and decisioning · Data, AI & Automation

Prove it on one portfolio. Scale what your committee trusts.

Choose the credit work that takes most of your analysts’ time, such as annual reviews of a mid-market book or new requests above a set size. A senior Zoral team will run it through your template, your rating model and your review cycle, and show your credit committee what it would see. We can demonstrate on published annual reports, so you need not share client data before you decide.
